Second book out!

Just because i'm not blogging, doesn't mean i'm not busy!

It actually means the complete opposite!! I have been slaving away at the second book for our 'Hawbear's Adventures Series', and i am happy to say that i finally sent it to the printers this monday!! Yey! So now i'll have some extra free time to dedicate to the blog again. Some sample pages from the book will come in a post soon following this one, but for now, here's something new images to look at. (also from the 2nd book.)

Snow Monster!

Just a little doodle i did close to the holidays, trying to relax after a day of shopping in over-crowded malls. I was hoping to get this one on Artjumble, but couldn't find enough time to finish it later in the week. I still plan on finishing it, eventually... :)

Our christmas card this year! I have to give all the credit to my talented husband, Dipesh, who did most of it! I took care of the christmas baking and made sure he didn't go hungry while he worked away on the card!

Disney World!

It's been a very long time since i've posted... so if there's anyone that actually still looks at this this is one of the reason's why! My husband Dipesh and I took a much needed (and by much needed i mean 3 years much needed) vacation! So we finally decided to go to Disney World in sunny Orlando, Florida USA! Even though it was much colder than we anticipated for being florida... it was still lots of fun. I've never been, and my husband only 2 when he was pretty young to remember much, so it was like going for the first time! It was alot of fun, though we both wished there were more rollercoasters!!

Yin Yang Yo Season 2 wrap up!

Well we've wrapped up another season of Yin Yang Yo. It was a fun show to work on - super cartoony and pretty zanny! I was one of many flash animators working on the show. We had a really great crew and i'm really happy with how it turned out concidering the turn over time. Awesome job everyone!!

Here are some colouring sheets i did for the local kids in my hometown. Its just alittle something for them to do, and helps us promote the book. Hope you like. :)
And yeah, i know the blogs been a little neglected these days - fellow Canadians understand when we only get a few months of the year of great weather to enjoy, and with so many events going on. Come fall i will definately be posting more regularly again!

The topic this week for Monday Artday was HAIR! Right away it made me think of the 80's! Who could ignore the big hair and crazy perms! So this sketch is inspired from those times. Unfortunately i didn't have enough time to do a finished coloured version, but it's on my 'to do list'... which seems to be getting very long these days! So check back later if your intersted :)

Getting in any drawing time during the summer seems to get harder and harder the further we get into the calender - the more it fills up. So heres a sketch i did alittle while back, hopefully another coloured version to follow when i can find the time. :)

Here's the cleaned up version of the sketch i did 2 posts below. I just kept this one simple - flash line and point and click colouring. When i get more time i wanna play around with more textures and different styles, any suggestions?

Total Drama Island on Cartoon Network!

So we just got news that Total Drama Island Season 1 - the first flash series i've worked on - has been picked up by cartoon network! It is a canadian based show, so now all you americans can check it out too. Yeeey! :) 9pm - Cartoon Network

Launch was a success!

Well we survived the book launch weekend! It was a success, and turned out really well concidering the weather was not co-operating at all times!

We had alot of support from family & friends and the community and i'd like to thank everyone who came out! We sold out of the first 100 printings, yeeeay! And have the printers busy getting more ready. So far we have been getting alot of posative feedback, but I still always welcome your comments and critiques!

New Book - Hawbear

So i started a blog and haven't posted anything yet. There is a good reason for that - and this is it! I have been working on a new book series with my mom Sheila McDermid. She is the author and I did the illustrations. Here is a sneak peak:







































The story is the first of a series of books that we plan on doing for my hometown on Manitoulin Island. This first one is about taking a ride on the Chi-cheemaun, the actual boat you can take from Tobermory to Manitoulin Island... which is a great spot to vacation might i add - if you love swimming, hiking, fishing, camp fires or just sitting around working on your tan ;)

The books are being launched this weekend (may 16th) and will be available for sale then aswell.
